Sydney Marathon Clinic:

John Dawlings (40:40) and Lawrence Markham (55:38) competed in the 10km road race at Smithfield.

Fisher's Ghost Fun Run:

A number of Southside Masters runners battled the heat & hills at Macarthur. The 10km event saw John Dawlings (17th, 41:59), Tim Yates (22nd, 43:33), Bob Fickel (105th, 53:33), David Burns (160th, 1:00:39), Jeff Cosatto (198th, 1:05:58) and Michael Gentle (222nd, 1:08:12). The 5km run saw Osmo Millridge (30:20, 1st M70+), Aaron Gentle (33:58) and Garry Keir (48:08).

Run 4 Fun:

Belinda Martin (35:26, 1st F30-39), Sallyanne Luxton (43:54) and Lynda Van Dyk (49:11) completed the 10km run.

Balmain Fun Run:

David Sullivan (37:26, 1st M40-49) and Glen Gielissen (38:31, 3rd M40-49) completed the 10km run, while Osmo Millridge (29:21) completed the 5km run.

Noosa Bolt:

Belinda Martin has finished 3rd in the elite women's 5km road race in a time of 17:19.

Rottnest Marathon:

Bob Fickel completed his 203rd marathon in the time of 4:45:00. This completes the Australian Sweep - the running of a marathon in every State & Territory of Australia.

Rotary Club of Maroubra Fun Run

John Dawlings (32:10) completed the 8km run and David Burns (19:50) completed the 4km run.

Burnie 10:

David Burns (52:50) completed the 10km road race in Burnie, Tasmania.

Brighton Beachside Dash:

Congratulations to Belinda Martin for winning the women's 10km race. 10km: Belinda Martin (35:54), David Sullivan (36:56), Glenn Gielissen (38:06), Paul Ray (39:10), John Dawlings (39:18), John Shaw (41:46), Daniel Toole (42:15), Jason Vella (52:46), Michael Gentle (1:10:23, 70min pacer). 5km: Nathan Breen (19:23), Aaron Gentle (24:37), Michael Gentle (31:25).

Fitzroy Falls Fire Trail Marathon:

Quite a few Southside Masters runners took the drive to the Southern Highlands to compete in the Fitzroy Falls Fire Trail Marathon and supporting events. Neil Peace completed the marathon in 4:25:24. The 10km run saw Brad Plummer finish 4th in 39:56, followed by John Shaw (45:53), Tim Yates (45:55), Louise Denneen (48:13), Jeff Cosatto (57:06), David Burns (59:49) and Michael Gentle (1:05:53). In the 5km run & walk was Aaron Gentle (28:51), Garry Keir (55:09) and Lauren Farmer (55:10).

Sydney Marathon:

Congratulations to Verity Breen (3:01:35; 2nd F40-44) and Bob Fickel (4:01:09) who completed the marathon today; and Belinda Martin (1:17:05; 1st F35-39) and Thien Vuong (1:19:49) who ran in the half marathon.

Mudgee Half Marathon:

Congratulations to Glenn Gielissen (1:19:06 - 1st M40-49, 2nd Outright) and David Sullivan (1:24:21 - 2nd M40-49, 5th Outright) for their great results in the half marathon.

Sutherland Half Marathon:

The gala day at Audley in the Royal National Park saw Bob Fickel (1:52:57) and Neil Peace (1:53:49) complete the half marathon; Brad Plummer (39:32) and Louise Denneen (47:09) in the 10km; and Brandon Nairn (19:30), Johnathon Shaw (20:01), Ron Cozijnsen (22:06) and Tim Yates (22:17) running in the 5km race.

City 2 Surf:

Westlink M7 Marathon:

Congratulations to Thien Vuong (2:42:31), Magda Karimali-Poulos (2:44:45), Verity Breen (3:02:30) and Bob Fickel (4:21:36) who all completed the Westlink M7 Marathon at Blacktown. Glenn Gielissen (1:22:20) and David Sullivan (1:26:16) completed the marathon relay in a combined time of 2:48:36.

Launceston 10:

David Burns (1:04:36) completed the 10km road race.

Sri Chinmoy Dolls Point Half Marathon:

Susan Hitchen (1:56:34) completed the half marathon, while David Sullivan (38:24) completed the 10km event.

Gold Coast Airport Marathon:

Congratulations to Jeff Cosatto (4:17:59) and Lynda Van Dyk (4:20:53) who completed the marathon; and Brandon Nairn (42:01) who completed the 10km race.

Woodford to Glenbrook:

John Dawlings completed his first Woodford to Glenbrook 25km bush run in a time of 1:49:49.

Mini Mos:

Magda Karimali-Poulos finished 3rd in the open female division of the 10km with a time of 38:26. Congratulations Magda.

Southside Masters runners in the half marathon were Jeff Cosatto (1:51:43), Susan Hitchen (1:52:58) and Jill Valentine (1:55:38). In the 10km event was Patrick Webb (38:37), Johnathan Shaw (41:02), Aaron Gentle (52:57) and Michael Gentle (1:06:43). Tim Yates, Garry Keir and David Burns were in the 5km walk.

Christchurch Marathon:

Congratulations to Magda Karimali-Poulos for winning the women's category at the Christchurch Marathon. Magda's time was 2:46:31.

Heart of the Lake:

John Dawlings completed the 10km run in 40:23, and Nathan Breen finished the 3km event in 11:46.

Sri Chinmoy Marathon:

Bob Fickel completed his 199th marathon at Williamstown (VIC) in a time of 4:10:37.

SMH Half Marathon:

Thien Vuong (1:17:37), Magda Karimali-Poulos (1:19:02), Tim Yates (1:39:25), Tim Garvey (1:49:46), Bob Fickel (1:51:09) and Lynda Van Dyk (2:01:16) all completed the SMH Half Marathon in Sydney. Congratulations to Magda Karimali-Poulos for finishing as 4th place female and 1st place for F35-39 age group.

Sydney 10:

The NSW Road Championships at Homebush saw many Southside Masters runners in action. In the 10km were Thien Vuong (34:38), Magda Karimali-Poulos (35:37, 1st F35-39); Paul Ray (36:59), Brad Plummer (38:38), Tim Yates (41:53), Johnathan Shaw (41:50), Louise Denneen (42:22), Sally Luxton (42:38), Sean Hogan (45:02), Geoff Darby (47:30), and Lynda Van Dyk (52:46). The 2.5km race had  Nathan Breen (10:18) and Jae Withers (11:44).

Athletic Track Renovations:

Sutherland Council has advised that competition can return to Sylvania Waters Athletic Field on Thursday 6th May. Until then, Thursday competition will continue to be held at Waratah Park Athletic Field.

Sydney Marathon Clinic

Bob Fickel (1:54:00) and Lynda Van Dyk (2:13:42) completed the half marathon; John Dawlings (45:59) and Michael Gentle (1:13:15) completed the 10km; and Aaron Gentle (31:23) completed the 5km road race at Smithfield.

Fitness 5:

The Kembla Joggers Fitness 5 in Wollongong saw Brad Plummer (17:32 5th M30-39), Magda Karimali-Poulos (17:55 2nd Female), Louise Denneen (17:55 3rd F30-39), Aaron Gentle (28:19 14th M12-14) and Michael Gentle (33:08 79th M30-39) running the certified 5km course.

Campbelltown City Challenge Walk:

Congratulations to Osmo Millridge who won the Male 70-79 category of the 6km Fun Walk at Mt Annan Botanic Gardens. Osmo finished in 43rd place outright with a time of 43:56.

Six Foot Track Marathon:

Congratulations to Paul Gillan (3:54:12), Glenn Dewhurst (4:41:18), Danny Toole (5:09:16), Lynda Van Dyk (6:23:46), Tim Yates (6:26:19), Garry Keir (6:27:28) and Bob Fickel (6:38:40) who have all completed the 45km bush run through the Blue Mountains from Katoomba to Jenolan Caves.

Event starting times will be unchanged from the normal program.
Short Track - 6:10pm     Long Track / Road - 6:20pm

The road race will be run on the nearby bicycle track - please be careful when sharing the course with cyclists. Parking is via Rawson Avenue. See you there!

Orange Running Festival:

Congratulations to Magda Karimali-Poulos for winning the women's half marathon in the time of 1:21:56. The event also featured Helen Simon and John Simon who walked the 10km race finishing in 1:46:01.

Athletic Track Renovations:

Sylvania Waters Athletic Track will be closed for six weeks from 15 March to 28 April 2010 for major renovations. Further information will be posted here as soon as it becomes available.

Sri Chinmoy Half Marathon:

A great showing by Southside Masters runners at Centennial Park with Chadi Elashkar finishing first (1:16:14) and Thien Vuong second (1:21:35) in the men's open category; and Magda Karimali-Poulos finishing first (1:26:08) in the women's open category.

Sydney Marathon Clinic:

Tim Yates (1:56:35) and Bob Fickel (2:33:27) completed the 25km road race at Smithfield.

Glenbrook Fatathon:

Garry Keir completed the 34km bush run in 3:57:15.

Australia Day Fun Runs:

A number of Southside Masters runners were involved in fun runs on Australia Day. The Menai Marketplace runs saw Chadi Elashkar win the 8km event, while Brad Plummer finished 3rd in the 3km run. At Canterbury Lyn Delaney (22:28) was first female and Kim Delaney (21:24) was 3rd in M50+ over 5km. Southside Results from Menai

New Club Record:

Todd Peters has broken the 800m track club record with his time of 2:09. This breaks the previous best time of 2:10 that was set by Thien Vuong on 23/7/09. Congratulations Todd.

Sydney Marathon Clinic:

Bob Fickel completed the half marathon in 2:07:33. Aaron Gentle (29:35) and Michael Gentle (33:19) ran the 5km event.

Cadbury Marathon:

Bob Fickel continues to close in on 200 marathons after he finished his 197th marathon in Hobart. Bob's time was 4:26:41.
